Thank you for supporting your child with the homework packets. As you noticed on Monday, I sent a new packet home and returned the finshed packet. The children and I took time during closing circle to learn more about how I use homework.
I do read your child's homework. I also acknowledge their accomplishment of completing the packet and taking responsibility for turning it in on the due date - fun stickers! I use a highlighter to check each page, and highlight successes and challenges. For example, I write a mis-spelled word correctly or correct a letter/number reversal. Your child is aware of this process, and knows that s/he can go back to their packet to review and make changes (easily because of the highlighter) if s/he and you support that effort. Again, I appreciate the time and energy you take to help your child continue learning beyond the classroom.
